A Construction Design Management plan was put in place by Paul for a new multi-storey car park at Taunton railway station in Somerset. The 4-storey car park has 400 spaces and is part of a £22.9m redevelopment scheme by Great Western Railway to improve the station, create a new ticket office and provide additional bike spaces. Taunton is a key point on the Great Western route between London Paddington and the Southwest. The growth of the town and its importance to rail travel in the local area required an upgrade of the station’s facilities.
The CDM plan had to cover the safe install of the precast walls, stairs, landings and capping units as well as a stair core and a lift core. The plan covered:
- Careful consideration of the work so the risks involved are managed from start to finish
- Have the right people for the right job at the right time
- Cooperate and coordinate the work with others
- Have the right information about the risks and how they are being managed
- Communicate this information effectively to those who need to know
- Consult and engage with workers about the risks and how they are being managed
Paul’s plan brought together integrated expertise, innovation, deep experience, and creativity to unravel the most complex problems and create exceptional, health and safety solutions – all for a better built environment.
